October 2017 — A Harvest of Love and Healing

If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples. – John 15:7, 8

One of the delights of early autumn is the sight of farm stands — or city markets — overflowing with pumpkins, squash, apples, pears and other fruits of the season. To us they may symbolize the abundant harvest of love and healing that can be realized through growth in spiritual understanding and practice.

Our Master’s words give us the simple, but profound key to discipleship and the great promise that accompanies obedience to his instructions.

Our Leader writes, “In Latin the word rendered disciple signifies student; and the word indicates that the power of healing was not a supernatural gift to those learners, but the result of their cultivated spiritual understanding of the divine Science, which their Master demonstrated by healing the sick and sinning.” SH 271:11-16

At High Ridge House, we are working faithfully to cultivate spiritual understanding, and to live “the fruit of the Spirit” — “love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance” — in our daily lives. (See Gal 5:22, 23) Our commitment to spiritual growth is central to our vision of a bountiful, perpetual harvest of healing.

We rejoice in every bit of fruitage, such as the testimonies shared at our recent Annual Meeting on September 16th. The gathering was a joyous celebration, a spiritual harvest overflowing with love and truth, inspiration and gratitude. Details and videos will be posted on our website soon.

We are so grateful to you, our family of donors and supporters, for joining with us in nurturing and cherishing Christian Science nursing, helping its healing mission at High Ridge House to expand and develop, step by step.

“[Christ Jesus’] order of ministration was ‘first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear.’ May we unloose the latchets of his Christliness, inherit his legacy of love, and reach the fruition of his promise: “If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.” Ret. 92:5

With love and joy,
